    ASTRO Instructional for the impending zombie apocalypse

    So maybe you braved the long lines and dealt with the pre-orders at your local BestBuy or Gamestop to pick up what looks to be the hottest new hand-held game console this year, the PS Vita. We have one in the office, and it’s truly an amazing device. The clarity and contrast on the display, along with the multiple control schemes from the dual shock controls, to the touchpad back and front panels make for a very interesting gaming platform.

    There have also been some questions about if we’re making some gear that will work with the PS Vita. We have that covered as well, as all of our headset gear already works great with the Vita! All of our headsets can plug into the Vita’s 3.5mm jack, and when using the same 4-pole QD cable, it allows you to use your mic with the Vita for games, chat, and whatever other future apps Sony comes up with (Skype would be a good bet with their 3G service).

    Lastly, we want to hook you up with some of our ASTRO Wallpaper designs formatted for the PS Vita! Cause you know it’ll make those other guys jealous when you pull out your Vita with a nice pull away ASTRO banner. ;)

    EON: (N.) AN IMMEASURABLE UNIT IN TIME

    We are proud to announce our very first sponsorship of Team eon. The roster of Team Eon hosts some of the best players and teams in the world, including Halo veterans Instinct, Call of Duty’s Team EnVyUs and winners of the CODXP $1 Million tournament, OpTic Gaming. Newcomers to the eon roster also include an EnVyUs competitive Gears of War 3 team, which made their competitive gaming debut at Hypefestation.

    This sponsorship was a natural progression for ASTRO as we’ve had a close relationship with these teams for the last 5 MLG seasons. These teams have been at the top of their game, with placements in the top 3 at MLG tournaments and multiple 1st place tournament wins.

    Back in 2006, we began working with some Pro Teams in Major League Gaming’s Pro Circuit: Carbon, Str8 Rippen and others. We listened to what was currently lacking in the competitive gaming scene and came up with a prototype audio system. These units provided a way for teams to interact via clear voice communication and hear all of the specific game sounds and queues in competitive gaming. The result was a 1st place finish by Carbon in the 2006 Championships in Halo, and several more 1st and 2nd place finishes by Carbon and Str8 Rippen in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, MLG made ASTRO Gaming the official audio gear of the Pro Circuit and provided MixAmps at every team station.

    This year at ASTRO, we want to give you a little gift of some wallpapers to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Maybe you can sneak on your special someone’s computer or phone and change it before they notice. Or maybe instead you want to spoil them rotten with some A*STARS (Which are great for mobile usage!). Or maybe you should make a card with “Be my Co-Op Valentine?”

    In any case, just be sure you actually remember to do something this year, instead of just playing the night away with your buddies like last year. ;)
